Girl, you do NOT need a wedding planner for a 20 person wedding! I planned my entire wedding myself and it was a 200 person wedding. I don’t know how much you should save since my wedding was a lot larger than you want to have, but it also depends on what you want. Where are you getting married? Where is the reception? what food are you having? is it catered? how about a DJ? and decorations? That is all stuff you can do your self, you just have to start calling around and getting the best priced stuff for what you want.

I wish I could be a wedding planner, it was so much fun!!!

You don’t need a wedding planner for 20 guests.

Sit down with your fiance and decide what you want. Make a list of what is important to you and what isn’t. Then before you make any decisions, shop around to see how much it will cost. Then work on saving that much.

$2,000 should be plenty. Just put aside $200 per month for 10 months.

i would say 3,000.00. this is a nice amount to get everything you want and have it be beautiful.

    Hi Jamie and congratulations!

It’s really hard for anyone to give you an estimate as it all depends on soooooo many things:

~ location, location, location! If you live in or near a big city….well, it’s going to be a lot more than small town USA.

~ what KIND of wedding/reception do you want? Fancy shmancy….or low-key?

~ what kind of food, beverages, and entertainment do you want to have?

~ how many attendants do you want? Remember, you will need to buy gifts for your attendants.

~ church wedding or outdoor wedding?

~ Money for the planner. It depends on how the wedding planner charges. Some charge per hour while others charge a percentage of the entire wedding.

It all depends on so many variables. Then, of course, there is the dress. You could spend anywhere from $100 all the way up to $20K if you want.

I know this doesn’t answer your question….but there are just so many variables.

You could do a small 20 guest wedding for as little as about $500-$1,000 if you had it at someone’s home. OR….you could spend $100/per plate (or more!) for the food alone if you live in a major city!

Think about the type of wedding you want. Then shop around to get average prices for the things you want. That will give you an idea of how much to save. Then of course you can scale back so you spend less than you budgeted but you have to look around to see what prices are like in your area. I think $2,000 is way more than enough for a small wedding but it all depends on what you want for your day.
